Introduction

The Iliad is about the rage of Achilles and the consequences that result from his rage.

Achilles' rage was caused by an argument with Agamemnon, in which Agamemnon slighted Achilles by taking his slave-girl.

The story is set in the context of the Trojan War - the greatest war in Greek history, in which an army of Greeks led by Agamemnon laid siege to and sacked the city of Troy.
